The social network king MySpace really does have it all. With the number of people who have personal profile pages and groups, and videos, and music, you can find exactly what you're looking for. As a tool for bringing together select groups of people who focus on specific subjects, MySpace remains the king. As an example of this truly expressive medium, a large group practicing tarot card readers are banding together to offer their insight to those who want to gather a better insight into their own destiny on MySpace. Tarot card groups that are public and private can be found to offer free reading, tutorials, information of decks and more. With what can be found for the enthusiast, MySpace tarot groups show that the king of social networking is still in the building.

A question I get asked a lot is "What are the best Tarot card decks?" Well, "best" is a relative term. I don't really think there is any such thing as "best" but I do agree that there are some decks that are more popular than others and maybe a little easier to understand. In this article, I'm going to briefly review the most popular and probably the most easy to learn Tarot card decks in the world today. Hopefully, after reading this, you'll have a pretty good idea of what Tarot card deck you will ultimately end up with.

Without a doubt, the most popular and easiest to learn Tarot card deck is the Rider Waite Tarot Deck. This deck was named after the very famous occult scholar, Dr. Arthur Edward Waite. The deck was first created in 1910. He had the designs drawn by a very talented lady by the name of Pamela Coleman Smith. Pamela was a member of the occult society group called the Order of the Golden Dawn.

The deck itself is very pleasing to look at. The symbolism is very easy to understand. But the best thing about using this deck is that there are so many books written on the use of these particular cards that learning to use the Rider Waite deck is going to be easier than just about any other deck in existence. For this reason, most occultists recommend that beginners start off with the Rider Waite Deck.

Thoth Tarot is arguably the second most popular Tarot deck of all time after the famous forerunner Rider Waite. Famously, two major trumps are numerically switched in these two popular decks. Derivatives of both decks, Rider-Waite derivatives or Thoth Tarot clones, number dozens in the current market.Another very popular Tarot Card deck, though nowhere near as easy to learn, is the Llewellyn Tarot. The illustrations in this deck are based off of the legends and the mythology of Wales. The artwork is created ina a very beautiful watercolor style.

The Llewellyn deck isn't as easy to read as the Rider Waite and there aren't as many books on it either. However, you can find some decent ones in your more established occult stores, whereas you can find a Rider Wait book in just about any book store.

Of course, probably one of the most popular Tarot Card decks of all time is the Aleister Crowley Thoth Tarot, which was created by another Order of the Golden Dawn member, Aleister Crowley. Reading this deck is extremely difficult and requires some pretty serious prior knowledge of Tarot Cards. One of the most unusual things about this deck is that it contains three versions of the Magus card. If you're going to use this deck for your divination, some serious study of the Tarot beforehand will be required.

As a student of Tarot I consider myself very fortunate to have taken a friend's suggestion to read a book entitled The Game of Life by Timothy Leary. The Game of Life is centered around Leary's idea that the Tarot trumps represent stages of personal growth that humanity experiences both as individuals and as a species. According to Leary, the Major Arcana represent the stages of growth that our species evolves through, and he even included 2 extra trumps that uncover the way of the future. Ultimately the Major Arcana encompass all life when considering the cards as organisms of various stages and complexities.

Deck Profile "Looking Back": Rider Waite Tarot Decks

Rider Smith Waite Deck: the beginning of a new style of tarot decks, arguably the most popular deck of all time, famous for its genesis of "illustrated" pips and Pamela Smith's much beloved illustrations.By Jack Daniel Morris

Tarot card reading is a very Old Italian technique to read future and predict the events that are likely to take place in the lives of any individual by judging his nature and moods. There are decks of cards chosen which has figures and images. Their orientation and positioning can determine the turn of events in your life.

Among these the Rider Waite tarot deck is a very famous and popular deck of cards that are used in tarot reading. The use of well defined images over the minor arcane cards by Pamela Coleman smith and Waite gives it the name and also its identity as the modern deck of cards. This is a little different version in terms of color that was used in the original Rider Waite tarot decks.

The images of the Rider Waite actually go much beyond the visualization capabilities of the beholders. They are absolutely occult. Many people see them in the eyes of their mind when they close their eyelids. They will not be in a position to render an explanation that why they have seen their images and also what had been the source of such images. They are so well known that they do appear at times as good as wallpapers.

If you want to go for tarot reading, you have to know what to expect from the reading. Usually people will opt for tarot reading or astrology when they are facing problems in life. They will seek guidance and help from a reader.

A true tarot reader is a person who has extraordinary abilities, which can surprise you. For instance, they can tell accurately about the events which will occur in the future. They may also be able to figure out a person's problems without being told. At times, they can also predict the death of a person.

Reading Reversals in the Aleister Crowley Tarot

By Jason Pitts

Reading tarot reversals in general is subject to much debate. Many people use them, others do not, and you will find passionate reasons as to why they should or should not be used from practitioners on both sides of the argument. As with anything, it comes down to what makes sense to you and how you want to do your readings. I however, do not read reversed cards any differently than I would if they were placed normally.

Since I have dedicated my study to the Aleister Crowley tarot system, it should be noted that there is no precedent in any of Aleister Crowley's writing on the tarot to indicate that the cards' symbolism or meaning is altered by being placed upside down in the spread. Also, the tarot system most closely related to Thoth-the tarot of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn-has no precedent for reading reversed cards any differently. This is the primary reason for my aversion to reading reversals with the Thoth tarot deck.

Symbolism of the Moon in Tarot Reading

By Carolyn Naiman

Since the beginning of time, the Moon has represented the great mystery of our existence. Largely associated to the feminine, the Moon is the great Goddess reflecting her gentle and subtle light upon us. She is the ultimate mirror, tenderly reflecting our consciousness back to us. She is the feminine night and represents the shadowed aspects to our very natures. In Tarot reading, she is our great mother, our inner child, and the power of our unconscious.

The Moon's realm is that of night and her light is not really her own. Rather it is borrowed from the great god of the Sun. Therefore, its energy is softer, less direct, and appears within the darkness of the night. It is a dim illumination that lights the path to self. The Moon is sensitive to all emotion. She always encourages one to go deeper, to find their source and find their truth. Her receptivity makes her the perfect nurturer. Although her light can be penetrating, it can also be healing.
So there you are, poised with your Tarot deck in hand, ready to read for your eager recipient. Your client has stated their needs and wants. The cards have been selected in your usual fashion, you take a deep breath and commence your reading. No reason to assume it won't go well.

Let's take a moment to pause here, as we reflect whether there is a right or wrong way to apply Tarot cards. Do we need to consider if there is a right or wrong way? Well, yes, as doubtless you would like to have your recipient return time and time again to you and better still, pass on that all important 'word of mouth' referral to others.

One of the first things to consider is your own frame of mind before you read. It's how you apply yourself to the task ahead. If you are tired, or 'under the weather', or your heart isn't in it, this can communicate itself to your client visually and they may feel they are receiving a poorer or 'wrong' reading. Also, you may find that your interpretation of the Tarot cards becomes harder work than usual or it seems 'off beam'. Postponement of your client may be the right application until you feel 'in the zone'.

Now is the time to look at Tarot from a fresh angle. Now is the time to acknowledge that Tarot is a practical tool, devoid of eeriness and mysticism. It's a form of divination that can help you to gain more of an understanding about yourself through natural, intuitive methods.

Tarot can reveal the future. It can also help you to have a greater understanding of your present circumstances, and it can offer a more meaningful perspective to past events. But there is no magic or mystery inherent within Tarot cards themselves. The cards are not a divine entity telling you what you should or shouldn't do. Tarot cards are nothing more than colourful pieces of cardboard illustrated with archetypal images. The symbols, patterns, and colours act as triggers to the subconscious, which reveals information you are not consciously aware of.

After experimenting with many forms of divination, I found Tarot to be the most effective method for glimpsing the future, because you can do a reading about absolutely anything! And you can obtain accurate forecasts for any situation, because you can incorporate a time-frame into your question to indicate precisely when a specific event will occur.
